Dear Brett, Congratulations! I am writing to inform you that you have been nominated by your friends and colleagues as one of Philadelphia’s top 76 Creative Connectors. Your nomination was a result of an online public survey that resulted in over 3,200 nominations. The survey was conducted by LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and the project partners below* in an effort to identify connectors who use art, culture, and design to build community and economic vitality.

Dear Readers,

Over a decade ago, I was deeply honored to be chosen as a Creative Connector. Interestingly, the reason I was selected was because I was not just an ordinary audience member, but a super-audience member. I immersed myself in live theater, soaking in as many performances as possible.

Times have evolved, and though I still engage with plenty of live theater, it's not to the extent I once did. You might wonder why. Well, during the dark periods when theaters were empty, I found myself exploring other avenues, rediscovering my joy of reading. I understand the immense challenges faced by regional theaters during this time, and I'm a part of the reason for these shifts. If I, who would normally watch around 40 Fringe Shows in a season, have scaled back, I can't help but ponder how few shows others are attending. But I'm not here to be discouraging or to suggest there's no hope.

I was fortunate to see Hadestown on Broadway and was captivated by it. I thoroughly enjoyed the production, especially considering its roots in a story that spans over a thousand years. Live theater endured through The Fall of The Roman Empire, and it will undoubtedly withstand the challenges of this post-COVID-19 era. The audience is still out there, and there will always be an audience eager to experience your show. It's possible that the audience might not be as extensive, and this is a reality we must acknowledge."

I am still not sure of my exact schedule yet, so please send me your suggestions. I will be updating my schedule on the Facebook page The Chronicles of a Cultural Connector.” I made a list of all of the Fringe Shows that you could see every day of the month below and also links to all the other fabulous festivals that are part of the Fringe. As always dear readers, I hope to see you in the audience.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Friends one of the reasons that I have not seen as many shows is because a few of my friend's are trying to change not the world but Philadelphia.
